All about Reforestation
Reforestation means planting new trees in areas where forests have been cut down or damaged. The trees help the soil hold water, provide homes for animals and absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Over time, a young forest can grow into a rich habitat.
Reforestation projects often use native trees that suit the local climate and soil. Volunteers plant seedlings, and then they water and protect them as they grow. It can take many decades for a replanted forest to reach its full size.
