Ceres

Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt and is classed as a dwarf planet. It is round because its gravity has pulled it into a sphere. Ceres has an icy surface and may have a salty ocean hidden beneath it.

The Dawn spacecraft visited Ceres and found bright patches on its surface. Scientists think these may be salt deposits left by water that has evaporated.
