Daily Life in Ancient Egypt

Ordinary people in ancient Egypt farmed along the Nile, made bread and beer and worked as builders and craftspeople. Families lived in houses made of mud bricks, and children often helped with work at home or in the fields.

Ancient Egyptians used papyrus, a paper-like material made from reeds, for writing. Some children went to school to learn how to read and write hieroglyphs, which was useful for jobs in government.
