Bread Around the World

Bread is made in many countries using different flours, shapes and methods. Naan from India and pitta from the Middle East are flatbreads baked in very hot ovens. French baguettes have a crisp crust, while sourdough is made using wild yeasts and bacteria.

Bread is one of the oldest foods made by humans, and recipes have travelled along trade routes for thousands of years. Each culture has its own special bread for celebrations, meals and everyday eating.
