Hmong New Year

The Hmong New Year is a festival celebrated by Hmong communities, often with music, dancing, food and sports. It is a time to honour ancestors and welcome good fortune for the year ahead. Families gather to share food and enjoy the celebrations.

Hmong New Year celebrations often include traditional games such as ball tossing, where young people meet and get to know each other. Traditional clothing with colourful embroidery is worn for the occasion.
