Photons

A photon is a tiny packet of light energy. Photons travel at the speed of light and have no mass. They can behave both like waves and like particles, which is one of the surprising ideas in physics.

Sunlight that reaches your skin is made of billions of photons every second. When a photon is absorbed, its energy can be used to make a chemical change, such as the reaction in a plant's leaves.
