Lungs and Breathing
โญ MasteredWhen you breathe in, your lungs take in oxygen. Oxygen passes into your blood and carbon dioxide leaves when you breathe out.
You breathe about 20,000 times a day.
All about Lungs and Breathing
Breathing brings oxygen into your body and removes carbon dioxide. When you breathe in, your diaphragm and rib muscles expand your chest, and air rushes into your lungs through your nose or mouth and windpipe.
In the lungs, oxygen passes through tiny air sacs called alveoli into your blood. The blood carries it around your body. When you breathe out, your lungs push carbon dioxide out. An average child breathes around 15 to 20 times every minute when resting.
