Clean Rivers

Clean rivers support fish, plants and wildlife, and they provide safe water for people. Keeping rivers clean means avoiding littering, reducing chemical use and protecting river banks. Healthy rivers also help reduce flooding.

Some cities have cleaned up their rivers so well that fish have returned to waters that were once polluted. River clean-up projects often involve volunteers and local schools.
