Clean Air Zones

Clean air zones are areas where the most polluting vehicles are restricted or charged to enter. They aim to reduce air pollution and protect people's health in busy towns. Zones often encourage people to use buses, bikes and walking instead.

Clean air zones have helped reduce nitrogen dioxide levels in some busy city centres. Improving air quality can help people with breathing problems and make streets more pleasant.
