Percentages

Percent means "out of 100". 50% is half, 25% is a quarter and 100% is the whole thing.

All about Percentages

Percent means "out of 100". The symbol % shows that a number is a fraction of one hundred. 50% means 50 out of 100, which is one half, and 25% is one quarter.

You can convert between percentages, fractions and decimals. 75% is the same as 75/100, which simplifies to 3/4, and also 0.75. Percentages help us compare things fairly when the totals are different.
