The Bicycle Brake

Brakes on a bicycle slow the wheels by rubbing a pad or a disc against them. Early bicycles had only simple brakes, and later designs were much safer.

๐Ÿ’ก Fun fact

Disc brakes on modern bikes can stop a rider more quickly than old rim brakes.

All about The Bicycle Brake

A bicycle brake slows or stops a bike by rubbing a pad or disc against the wheel. When you squeeze the brake lever, cables or hydraulic fluid pull the brake pads together. The friction created slows the wheel down.

Early bicycles had very simple brakes that were not always reliable. Modern disc brakes and rim brakes are much more powerful and safer. Riders should check their brakes regularly to keep their bike safe.
