All about The Wright Brothers
Orville and Wilbur Wright were American inventors who built and flew the first powered, controlled aeroplane. On 17 December 1903, at Kitty Hawk in North Carolina, Orville piloted the Wright Flyer for 12 seconds, covering about 37 metres.
The brothers were bicycle makers who studied birds and wind tunnels to understand how wings create lift. They built on earlier gliders and designed a way to control the plane by twisting the wings, a method called wing warping.
