Ancient Nubia

Nubia was an ancient region along the Nile south of Egypt. Its kingdoms built pyramids, temples and cities and at times even ruled Egypt. Nubian culture was rich and influenced the region for many centuries.

Nubia has more pyramids than Egypt, though they are smaller and steeper. Many Nubian sites are located in what is now Sudan.
